A nonprofit organization
that connects volunteer artists of all kinds with children living in difficult
circumstances to help them express their thoughts and feelings, increase their
self-esteem, and give them a voice through the arts. One of their goals is violence
prevention and many of their projects have dealt with children's experiences with
violence. They mainly work with child-serving organizations to provide semester-long,

Minority Youth Appreciation Society (MYAS) Learning Center

Founded
in 1984 by Margaret Simmons, a retired teacher. Provides after-school programs
for kids in Creighton and Fairfield Courts. Also summer programs for kids in K
and 1st grade. Sue Bailey (of RBHA) has provided good touch/bad touch and drug
abuse info to kids for 5 years. Trying to increase reading skills, prevent gang

all middle schools in Richmond, providing sports programs, tutoring and mentoring.
They have about 300 kids registered. They partner with RPS and Parks & Rec. Funded
